Little chefs have fun with healthy eating at Isla Gladstone Conservatory
LITTLE chefs from Liverpool proved that many cooks could be a recipe for success in the first day of a healthy eating workshop at Isla Gladstone Conservatory, in Stanley Park.
More than 180 youngsters from Anfield schools St Margaret’s Primary, Anfield Juniors and Infants and All Saints Primary signed up for the three-day course, led by the Conservatory’s head chef, Neil Dempsey.
As well as learning how to make healthy meals from wholesome, fresh ingredients, the keen would-be chefs were also given mini recipe cards and goody bags to practise their new culinary skills at home.
Mr Dempsey said: “It’s all about making cooking fun and relevant to kids. The best way to get children involved and engaged is by talking to them about foods they are familiar with.”
Organised by the Isla Gladstone Conservatory, the Primary Care Trust and Liverpool Council, the workshops aim to build on the success of Liverpool’s Year of Health and Wellbeing.
