A MERSEYSIDE couple came face-to-face with the Queen to receive their MBEs.
Foster parents Gaye and Peter Jones were listed in Her Majesty’s annual honours for services to families.
In the past 36 years, the Bootle couple have fostered more than 40 children.
Speaking on a previous occasion, Gaye said: “It’s the most enjoyable job and the proudest moment of being a foster parent is when a child is settled with you and they put their arm around you and they say, ‘I love you’.
“Or when they come back and see you. We have never regretted doing it. You get your challenges, but it’s very worthwhile.”
She added: “It means a lot to get an MBE. To think that someone nominated us is a lovely thought. It makes us feel special.”
