Former Brookside actor Brian Regan questioned by police in connection with Aigburth murder

A FORMER Brookside actor was questioned by murder squad detectives in connection with a street execution outside a Liverpool pub.

Brian Regan played Terry Sullivan in the popular city-based soap for 14 years.

Over the weekend, he was quizzed at length by detectives investigating the murder of 44-year-old Bahman Faraji, who was gunned down outside the Belgrave pub, in Aigburth, on Thursday night.

Mr Regan, 53, of Garston, was picked up by officers on Friday night, along with a 48-year-old woman. They were both questioned throughout Saturday, before being released on police bail on Sunday. Mr Faraji was killed after being shot at near point-blank range as he left The Belgrave, in Bryanston Road, Aigburth, at around 6.50pm last Thursday.

Two friends watched on in horror as the peaked-capped gunman struck before walking off along adjoining Belgrave Road, with the murder weapon – a shotgun – under his arm, to a car waiting with its engine running.

Anyone with information should call police on 0151-777 5364 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
