Oliver King
A 12-YEAR-OLD boy died from a suspected seizure during a swimming lesson at a Liverpool school.
Year 7 pupil Oliver King fell ill during a routine class lesson at King David High School, in Childwall, yesterday afternoon.
Described as a healthy youngster who enjoyed a passion for sport, Oliver was a key member of junior football team Woolton Diamonds.
An investigation was last night launched into the “unexplained death”.
Paying tribute, King David headteacher Brigid Smith said: “Oliver was a lively, bright young boy, very popular with his peers and staff. He was a keen and talented sportsman who in his short time in the school had already made his mark representing King David at football, cross-country and athletics.
“He is a great, great loss to our school community and will be sadly missed by all of us.”
Oliver had attended both the neighbouring King David kindergarten and primary school, where his younger brother, Ben, is on the roll.
His parents had to rush to the school to break the heartbreaking news to Oliver’s brother. Lauren Lesin-Davis, chair of governors at King David Primary, said it was believed Oliver had suffered “a seizure” during a routine swimming lesson for first year pupils in the high school’s pool.
