A MAN in his early twenties died after being hit by a lorry on a major Liverpool road.
Dunnings Bridge Road, Netherton – a popular commuter route – was closed by police for several hours following the incident.
The smash happened just before 5am yesterday, close to the Switch Island Retail Park.
It is thought the victim, a pedestrian who has not been identified, was either entering or leaving a nearby McDonald’s fast food restaurant when he was struck by the HGV.
The driver of that vehicle was uninjured but severely shaken, Merseyside Police told the Daily Post.
Cars had to be diverted after the accident.
