ONE OF the world’s most famous recording studios, Abbey Road, is to celebrate its 80th anniversary by throwing open its doors to undiscovered composers.
The London studio – where The Beatles recorded the bulk of their music and is the venue for many classical recordings – is launching a competition to find new “anthems”.
Winning tunes will be recorded in Studio One with the London Symphony Orchestra and some of the UK’s finest singers, conducted by Eric Whitacre.
The studio’s technical team will help to arrange the compositions. General manager Jonathan Smith said: “This competition will give composers an opportunity to have their work performed and recorded at the very highest standard.”
