Ken Dodd in visit to Liverpool soldiers
KEN DODD congratulated soldiers who raised £16,604 for the Royal British Legion’s poppy appeal.
He visited Mather Avenue Territorial Army Centre yesterday with his tickling stick to thank 156 (NW) Transport Regiment for their efforts.
The team have sold poppies at Lime Street station each year since 2005, with the cooperation of Network Rail.
The comic legend paid his special visit to tell the soldiers that once again the unit raised the most money in Merseyside.
More than £32m was raised nationally during 2010, with the emphasis on helping the Afghan generation of the Armed Forces.
