Liverpool Women's Hospital 300
SCORES of nursing jobs are set to be cut at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Staff in units including neonatal, maternity and gynaecology were sent letters about redundancy and redeployment into other areas of the NHS.
The trust said it wanted to avoid compulsorily job losses and hoped most staff would transfer to other roles.
But Paul Wood, regional representative for the Royal College of Nursing, said the union was concerned about patient safety and how many nurses would effectively have their roles downgraded.
Documents seen by the Daily Post show there would be around 36 less roles within the new proposed structure – but there could be more losses if staff refuse to take jobs on lower pay.
One staff member said: “It does not feel like we are sharing the burden at all. I do not know how the people left will cope with less nurses.”
Mr Wood said: “We have concerns about patient safety, because there could be a big loss of experience and expertise. We will continue to negotiate with the trust.”
