MINISTERS were told they were playing Russian roulette with people's future by a Mersey MP in last night's heated health debate.
West Lancashire’s Labour MP Rosie Cooper, a member of the Health select committee, told ministers: “You have no mandate for these ill-advised reforms, you don’t have that support and it seems to me you don’t have a clue.
"You are playing Russian roulette with people's futures.”
“For goodness sake stop now before you kill the NHS.”
Southport Liberal Democrat MP John Pugh last night urged Parliament to ditch tribalism and work together to scrutinise the Health Bill.
He warned MPs against acting as “pawns” and simply waving the plans through the Commons.
“Can I begin by stating the blindingly obvious – the Health Bill’s in trouble,” he said.
“There’s hostility in the profession, there’s anxiety amongst the public, concern in the Cabinet and an unease that you can actually feel spreading in all sections and in all parties in this House and in the other place.”
