FORMER Liverpool car workers were praised for their support in a pensions battle that could lead to the first strike in UK Ford plants since the 1970s.
The car-maker wants to change its pension rules, which Unite the Union claims will lead to lower payments for staff, including around 30,000 ex-Ford workers.
Unite has threatened a strike ballot at all its UK plants, including the Getrag Ford site in Halewood, which employs 700.
More than 40 Liverpool Ford pensioners, were coached to Essex to take part in a protest outside Ford’s offices.
