Liverpool Cricket Club, Aigburth 300
LIVERPOOL Cricket Club’s bid to acquire an all-year-round events licence has come under fire from residents.
In the past, the Aigburth club has asked the city council for a one-off events licence when it wants to put a marquee on their grounds to host a special event.
However, the club is now asking for a licence which will allow them to put marquees up whenever they want.
Residents are furious about the move and said a blanket licence is not necessary.
Scores of people have written to the council opposing the move, raising concerns about noise and accusing the Club of “riding roughshod” over the views of the neighbourhood.
However, John Mountford, a director from Liverpool Cricket Club, today assured residents that the number of events would be limited to 50 a year and that would be incorporated in the application.
He added: We’ve met with residents. We’ve discussed their concerns.
“We’re going to limit the number of events to 50. I’m a resident of the area myself.
“The club has a good track record of holding events and I don’t think the police have been called at any of them.”
