A DECISION on a controversial revamp of Liverpool’s only surviving medieval church has been delayed until June.
Proposals for All Saints church, a Grade I-listed building in Childwall, would see it extended, and a glass-covered walkway installed over a former burial site. The plan attracted controversy because of the age of the building – with the oldest part dating back to the 14th century – and the fact it could involve the exhumation of bodies.
Yesterday, Liverpool council’s planning committee said it needed more time to study the rules about building over graves.
But the committee approved two separate applications for the modernisation of the existing church hall and the extension of a car park by demolishing a scout hut.
