ENGLAND cricket legend Andrew Flintoff has donated £600,000 to Alder Hey to create his first UK children’s rehabilitation unit.
He will formally open the centre at the West Derby children’s hospital today.
It has been funded through the AF Foundation, a charity Flintoff – nicknamed “Freddie” – set up with his wife, Rachael.
It raises funds to build, develop and improve child rehabilitation and physiotherapy units throughout the UK.
The centre will treat children from birth to the age of 18.
Flintoff, 33, said: “We are delighted and so very proud to be able to open our very first flagship unit.
“It is thanks to all the fundraising by our supporters who have enabled this to happen.
“We are at the start of a fantastic journey, which will make a huge difference to children all over the country.”
