Ex-Liverpool council leader Warren Bradley at centre of election fraud inquiry

FORMER Liverpool council leader Warren Bradley was today at the centre of an inquiry into possible election fraud.

The probe relates to the nomination of his teenage son Daniel as a Liberal Democrat candidate in the forthcoming local elections.

The Lib-Dem group leader signed as a witness on the nomination form of his 18-year-old son, who is to stand as a candidate in the Central ward in the May 5 council elections.

The candidate himself must also sign the form but the teenager has told the Daily Post he did not want to stand and that his own signature on the form is “a fake”.

The revelation leaves Cllr Bradley, 44, facing questions as to who he witnessed signing the official paper.

Last night the North West regional Lib-Dem party said it had launched ”an immediate inquiry”, while a Labour councillor for Central ward said he would be asking for the police to investigate.

A spokesman for the North West Lib-Dems said: “An incident was reported to the regional party and we have started an immediate investigation.

“We will continue to work with all the other authorities involved.”

Cllr Bradley, who represents Wavertree, and his party were ousted from power in Liverpool in last year’s elections.
