A TEACHER’S degree is no guarantee they can cut it in the classroom – a Liverpool education conference has been told.
The claim was aired on the opening day yesterday of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers’ (ATL) three- day annual conference at the BT Convention Centre.
The union used the conference to release the results of a survey it conducted in which 83% of members quizzed said degree grades are no indication of who will make a good teacher or lecturer. Other hot topics at the ATL conference will include concerns about senior managers at schools attending “junkets in expensive hotels”.
