Warren Bradley 300
FORMER Liverpool Liberal Democrat leader Warren Bradley was suspended by his own party last night.
The move came just hours after the ex-council leader sensationally resigned as head of the Lib-Dems yesterday.
And today he faces the prospect of a police investigation into possible election fraud.
Cllr Bradley’s leadership was plunged into crisis after our revelations yesterday that he had witnessed an election nomination for his teenage son Daniel, 18, for the forthcoming local elections.
The teenager said he did not want to stand and his own signature on the form is “a fake”.
The revelation left Cllr Bradley, 44, facing questions as to who he witnessed signing the official paper.
Cllr Bradley resigned with immediate effect, within hours of the story hitting the news stands. In an emotional email to Lib-Dems, he denied any wrongdoing but said being leader had made his life “miserable”.
Party leader and deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said it was a blow that Cllr Bradley had resigned, but that the allegations were serious and the Liberal Democrats were investigating.
A spokesman for the party said it would provide full cooperation to all other relevant authorities in their investigations.
Labour cabinet member Nick Small said he had spoken to detectives about the matter and was preparing to make a formal complaint.
