CRIME across Merseyside fell by 10% last year, according to official statistics.
According to the latest official British Crime Survey and Home Office statistics, police drove crime down by 10% in 2010 compared to a national fall of 6%, meaning there were 11,000 fewer victims of crime in Merseyside last year.
And, according to the figures, 60% of people asked believe that Merseyside Police is dealing with local concerns.
The statistics say:
House break-ins were down by 13%, with business burglaries falling by 9%;
Car crime fell by 20%;
Violence against people was cut by 15%;
Incidents of robbery were down by 21%.
Assistant Chief Constable Helen King said: “These latest figures are great news for people who live and work in Merseyside. They show the area is getting safer, with crime down by 10%.”
