Children impress Rebecca Ferguson hat maker in Easter bonnet line-up at Albert Dock

A STRIKING pink flower hat caught the eye of X-Factor finalist Rebecca Ferguson’s hat maker, who was the judge of an Easter parade.

Hayley Marsden, who has designed a number of hats for the talented singer, found it hard to choose from a line-up of incredible creations.

However, in the end, eight-year-old Caitlin Foy beat a whole host of beautiful bonnets to be handed first place by the celebrity milliner, earning herself a giant chocolate egg.

Earlier, the children had taken part in a hat-making workshop with Hayley, who combines making hats with being an art teacher at Holly Lodge Girls’ School.

After putting together their creations they, went off on an Easter parade around Albert Dock to show off their work before returning to the What’s Cooking? eatery for a final line-up and judging.

Hayley, 30, from West Derby, said: “It’s been incredible. We’ve been busy this morning making hats from 10am. It’s been a real family day, everyone’s got involved. And, overall, it’s been a positive morning and we’ve had some fantastic feedback from parents.”

Hayley added she was impressed by the standard of the hats created, and said she had seen lots of budding talent from the youngsters.
