A PASSENGER on a luxury cruise due to end in Liverpool has described how she awoke to find herself in Dublin.
The eight-day Iberian cruise from Liverpool had been due to return to the city late on Saturday night.
But high winds meant the Fred Olsen Cruise Lines ship Boudicca was unable to dock.
Sandy Felton, a retired lecturer from Liverpool, said the passengers had been told the ship would anchor over night and try again.
She said: “When we woke up this morning we were in Dublin. It was a bit naughty because they never said that might happen.”
She said arrangements were then made to fly most of the passengers back home.
Mrs Felton said: “I was mortified, I can’t stand flying but there was nothing we could do.
“There were a few people who were angry, but most were quite philosophical about it.
“But if you book a cruise from Liverpool to end in Liverpool you expect to come back. If there are weather conditions like that and you can’t dock, then it’s not your fault.”
However, she said the rest of the cruise had been “very good” taking in Spain and Portugal.
Last night, no-one from Fred Olsen Cruise Lines was available for comment.
