Speke murder accused appears in court

A MAN appeared in court charged with the murder of a teenage mother.

Kelsey Marie Shaw, 17, from Speke, was found unconscious in a block of new-build flats in Widnes on Friday.

The mother-of-one lost her fight for life in Whiston hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Yesterday, Callum Willcocks appeared in court charged with her murder. Willcocks, 19, of Hale Drive, Speke – the same road Kelsey lived on – appeared before Warrington magistrates.

Handcuffed to security guards, the shaven-headed accused, dressed in a plain black T-shirt, spoke quietly to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Warrington Crown Court tomorrow.

Willcocks was arrested by detectives from Cheshire Police at the flat in Foundry Lane, Halebank, at around 5pm on Friday.

He was kept in police custody over the weekend while he was questioned, before being charged on Sunday.
