Nineteen students given day’s exclusion for academy protest at Dingle’s Shorefields school

REBELLIOUS students were sent home from a Liverpool school after staging an impromptu protest.

Nineteen pupils from Dingle secondary Shorefields were yesterday given a day’s exclusion for the demonstration against the school’s plan to become an Academy.

In a show of support ahead of a teachers’ strike at the school today, 150 pupils refused to move from the playground in a stand-off lasting half an hour.

Thirty students were then given a day’s exclusion or taught in isolation after running down corridors once inside.
