Liverpool Sound City festival gets under way
FINAL preparations are under way for the launch tonight of Liverpool Sound City.
The three-day music extravaganza is now in its fourth year and organisers are promising that this one will be the biggest and the best.
It will see more than 300 bands playing to 30,000 people over three days, with established acts such as The Kooks. The View and a re-formed Cast appearing along with more than 100 up-and-coming local bands.
Venues include the city’s famous bombed-out church, the cathedral crypt and St George’s Hall.
The festival features world film premieres and the 50th anniversary of MerseyBeat along with the annual John Peel World Cup game. There is also a global conference at the Hilton attended by keynote speakers and delegates.
