Married in a ‘holy marquee’
A CITY centre church celebrated its first wedding in almost 40 years.
Kate Fowler, 29, and David Brannan, 30, married at St James in the City on Upper Parliament Street, Toxteth – the first marriage there since the church closed in 1972.
Despite having no heating, water or pews, the church has been holding services since September, 2009.
Vicar Neil Short said it had been a fantastic day for the couple who met 10 years ago at work in Croxteth Park.
Bride Kate said: “Some people pay lots of money to get married in a marquee. Well, I am getting married in a marquee in a church. A holy marquee.”
