C4 loses Glee in switch to Sky 1

GLEE, the all-singing all-dancing TV hit show, is to be screened on Sky from this autumn.

The first two series of the US musical drama were shown on digital channel E4, but parent company Channel 4 walked away from negotiations on the rights last month. A source said at the time that they did not want to pay “over the odds” for the high school comedy drama.

First aired in the UK in 2009 it became E4’s biggest hit with more than 2m viewers, winning four Emmy awards.

All future series of the Fox show will be shown on Sky 1 HD.

Stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow have guested.
