Special preview of £60m New Brighton Marine Point scheme in Wirral (GALLERY)

THE Daily Post has obtained an exclusive sneak preview inside New Brighton's £60m Neptune Marine Point regeneration scheme as it nears completion.

Although still a building site, Neptune’s Marine Point, in New Brighton, will see several significant events this week.

The developers have handed over the cinema to operators The Light while the proposed casino gambling licence is being dealt with by Wirral Council on Wednesday and the 66-bed Travelodge hotel is to open for business on Friday, a month ahead of schedule.

Also well under way is the Morrisons supermarket, due to open in October, together with the cinema, and developers are in advanced negotiations with several restaurant chains.

Neptune’s Daniel Hynd said: “We are close to finalising agreements with bars and restaurants.”

Almost entirely completed and looking like it has just the beds to be made, the hotel was handed over the company yesterday to allow preparations for the start of business, although visitors will find construction continuing on the rest of the scheme for some months yet.

An official opening ceremony will take place at the beginning of July.

Also this week, the Light cinema – which has expanded from six to eight screens – will be handed over by the developers to begin fitting it out.

The building work is largely completed, with the screening rooms now awaiting decoration and the installation of seating and the projection systems.

The all-digital cinema is expected to be a popular attraction at Marine Point, and Neptune will retain management of the overall site.
