Liverpool to honour servicemen and woman at British Armed Forces Day celebrations

LIVERPOOL will honour its service men and women this Saturday as part of British Armed Forces Day celebrations.

The service, starting at 11am, will take place in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral and aims to show support for the men and women in the armed forces.

Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Frank Prendergast, will lead more than 600 distinguished guests including the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside and Mayors of other Merseyside Boroughs.

Cllr Prendergast said: “The City of Liverpool has long-standing, strong connections with all military organisations.

“This has been acknowledged over the years by awarding them the highest honour we can bestow, the Freedom of the City.

“The British Armed Forces are highly motivated, determined and compassionate.”

Members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony, which will feature music from the Band of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.

The service will finish at 11.45am with a march past led by the Band of the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment and starting in the Cathedral grounds at midday.
