CRITICS of grammar schools becoming academies have voiced fears conversion can lead to pupils of all abilities suddenly being let in due to new found freedoms in admission policies.
Do away with selection via entry tests and a school’s standards and performance could suffer.
Ministers stress academy grammar schools would still be able to select on ability.
And any fears of an intake shift change at St Anselm’s would appear unfounded.
Headteacher Simon Duggan has pledged the current a admission policy will not be changed.
And he makes a good case that conversion will mean money can be prioritised better due to a reduction in red tape.
