Protests at Royal Liverpool and Whiston Hospitals against Government health plans
PROTESTS were held at Merseyside hospitals against Government plans to change the NHS.
The rallies at the Royal Liverpool and Whiston Hospitals coincided with the 63rd birthday of the health service.
At Whiston, union officials and campaigners were protesting against the threat to privatise the hospital, revealed in a secret Government document.
MPs have also been campaigning against the proposal.
At the Royal, protesters said they were against several aspects of the Government’s Health and Social Care Bill.
Greg Dropkin, from Merseyside’s Keep Our NHS Public group, said the involvement of the private sector was “a recipe for chaos”.
He added: “Poorer people who cannot afford to go private will bear the brunt.
“We urge the public to contact their MPs and councillors to demand the Bill is voted down.”
