Mossley Hill schoolboy Finn O'Hare’s dream of opening Museum of Liverpool becomes a reality

A SCHOOLBOY’S dream will come true when he officially opens the long-awaited Museum of Liverpool.

Six-year-old Finn O’Hare, from Mossley Hill, was given the enviable task of cutting the ribbon of the £72m museum on July 19 after writing to bosses requesting the privilege.

The Carleton House school pupil wrote to museum bosses last year, saying how excited he was to see the new attraction taking shape and putting himself forward for the job of opening it.

Impressed by the youngster’s enthusiasm, Dr David Fleming, director of National Museums Liverpool, invited him to the Mann Island site to give him more details about his star role.

Accompanied by his parents Andy O’Hare and Lorraine Horne, Finn took a sneak peak at how work at the Pier Head site was progressing.

Finn said: “I am very excited about opening the museum.

“I decided to write the letter because I wanted to know when it was opening.

“I have told everyone about it and people at school are jealous.”
