LEADING figures from the creative industries in Merseyside met last night to pay tribute to businesswoman Claire McKeown.

Mrs McKeown, who played a key role promoting Liverpool at the World Expo in Shanghai, died earlier this month after a car crash in Norfolk.

She founded networking body Kin, whose website is used by hundreds of people in the sector. Kin already had a networking event scheduled for last night, and the event at Liverpool’s Static Gallery was turned into a tribute to its founder.

Mrs McKeown became operations director at Liverpool-based River Motion in 2009, and oversaw its project to create 84 Mandarin language films for Liverpool’s pavilion at the Shanghai Expo.

Before joining River, she worked at creative sector support body ACME. Its director, Kevin McManus, was among those paying tribute.
