Brazilica festival comes to Liverpool (GALLERY)

BRAZILIAN dancers brought samba to the city for a celebration of all things South America.

Around 56,000 spectators enjoyed the three-day Brazilica festival, which saw a rain-soaked Williamson Square turned into a Brazilian-style party zone.

On Saturday night more than 500 samba dancers and floats from 14 samba schools joined a carnival parade through the city centre featuring extravagant costumes and giant floats. An evening fiesta featured hundreds of dancers, drummers and puppeteers.

Even Knotty Ash funnyman Ken Dodd had Latin fever, judging a competition at Bem Brasil to find the city’s carnival queen.

The festival ended on Sunday with a Zumbathon on Chavasse Park followed by a closing party at Santa Chupitos.
