Claire McKeown
A PRIZE is to be launched in the memory of a Liverpool businesswoman who spearheaded the city’s success at the World Expo in Shanghai.
Claire McKeown, 32, of creative agency River Motion Group, died earlier this month following a road accident in Norfolk.
Liverpool council is now set to launch an annual Claire McKeown Award to recognise the talents of a young person from the city’s digital and creative sector.
The inaugural award will be handed out at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress which will be held in Liverpool in March.
Cllr Gary Millar, business assistant to council leader Joe Anderson, is now calling on city firms to donate money for the prize fund.
It is hoped enough money will be raised to pay for a bursary or seed funding to a bright spark to start their own business.
Mrs McKeown and the River Motion team were behind the spectacular 3-D film which was the main attraction at the city’s pavilion at last year’s World Expo.
She was also one of the best-known figures in the city’s creative sector, previously working for support agency Merseyside ACME and founding industry support network Kin.
Cllr Millar said: “I knew Claire well and worked with her to create the content for Shanghai.
