ONE of two men injured when a plane crashed into houses has died.
The light aircraft belonging to a Liverpool aviation firm came down between two semi-detached houses in Salford on Friday.
The 59-year-old pilot, Ian Daglish from Alderley Edge, died yesterday.
His 19-year-old passenger remains in a critical condition in hospital with extensive burns.
The Piper PA38 Tomahawk, which belonged to John Lennon Airport-based Ravenair, crashed shortly after taking off from Barton Airfield.
In a statement, Mr Daglish’s family said: “Ian was, first and foremost, a family man - an extremely proud father of two teenage daughters, Hazel and Fiona, and devoted husband of Joy to whom he had been married for 26 years. He has one brother, Andrew.
“Ian and Joy moved to Alderley Edge in 1988 and Ian was an active member of the community and was particularly interested in the history and conservation of the area.
“Ian was passionate and meticulous about all his interests especially his flying. He was an experienced pilot of many years.”
Ravenair Flying School said on its website.“Our sincere condolences are with the immediate relatives, family and friends as well as local residents and persons involved in this sad event. We are co-operating fully with the AAIB investigation that is under way and we have no further comment to make at this stage.”
