A FIRE chief told Liverpool Crown Court how a “catastrophic” blaze at a warehouse could not have been spread accidentally.
Kirkby watch manager Steven Clarke told how there were three different seats of fire at the blaze at Floorcoverings Ltd, on the Knowsley Industrial Estate.
He said the wind direction and the fact there were undamaged buildings between the two blazing areas “precluded” the fact it had accidentally spread.
Floorcoverings managing director Elliot Ross, 49, is alleged to have deliberately started the blaze to net a £200,000 insurance payout.
Ross, of Sudley Grange, Aigburth, denies arson on August 19, 2009, and four counts of fraud.
The case continues.
