THE funeral of a prominent politician will take place later this month.
Cllr Derek Bateman, 62, who was Labour group leader on Cheshire West and Chester Council, died suddenly at his Ellesmere Port home last Saturday.
His funeral will take place at St Paul’s Church, in Childer Thornton, on Tuesday, August 16, at 1.30pm.
The funeral service will be followed by burial at Overpool Cemetery, in Rivacre Road, Ellesmere Port.
Cllr Bateman’s family said all are welcome to attend the service, burial and also refreshments later at the Ellesmere Port Labour Club, in Flat Lane.
