Roof-top stand-off for 12 hours

A MAN was arrested after a 12-hour roof-top stand-off with police.

Roads and shops were closed after the man, believed to be in his late twenties, was spotted on top of a parade of shops in Maghull at 4am on Saturday.

He was suspected of breaking into the shops on Liverpool Road South.

A large cordon was put in place while police negotiated with him to come down.

As the chaos on the ground continued the man spent the day sunbathing, drinking from bottles of wine and doing push ups.

He finally came down around 4pm and was arrested.
