PROTESTERS marched on the Sonae factory to highlight their concerns about health and safety.
Scores of residents walked to the factory's gates yesterday.
The plant, in Kirkby, is currently subject to a police and Health Safety Executive investigation following a third fatal accident at the site. And, in June, a hopper burnt for several days.
Kirkby resident Jess Culley, 39, said: “The community is sick of the dust coming from the factory. We think it is making people poorly.”
Nigel Graham, chief operating officer of Sonae Industria (UK) Ltd said: “There is no evidence to support the claim that the process at our Knowsley plant is having a detrimental impact on the health of local residents.”
