Liverpool coastguard rescues dog from mud

LIVERPOOL coastguards came to the rescue of a dog stranded on a mud bank yesterday.

The animal was in difficulty on the bank by Eastham Ferry pub, near to the Eastham Country Park.

A team from Hoylake was already on the water and went to bring the dog to safety, reuniting the pet with its owners.

Ian Jackson, from the service, reminded people not to be tempted to conduct a rescue themselves.

He said: “It’s always better to phone the coastguard and let us deal with it. Don’t put yourself at risk.”
