Police investigate after shootings and petrol bombings on city’s streets

POLICE investigating firebomb and gun attacks at homes in Liverpool have arrested two men.

Officers carried out a number of search warrants in Tower Hill yesterday after a petrol bomb was thrown through the window of a house on Mossdale Road, Kirkby, on Monday night. Police also found evidence of gunshots, believed to be from a shotgun. A house on nearby Travis Drive, 100 metres away, also had at least one shot fired through the glass leaving a bullet hole embedded in the wall.

Merseyside police said information from the community led to officers arresting a 27-year-old and a 23-year-old, both from the local area, on suspicion of drug and firearms offences. During raids police also recovered a number of potentially lethal items including a bolt-action .22 calibre rifle with ammunition, a sawn-off double barreled shotgun with ammunition, an off-road motorcycle, a stolen BMW motorcycle as well as small quantities of cannabis and heroin.

In an another incident shortly after midnight yesterday emergency services were called to two properties on Westbank Road, Edge Hill, after reports they had been petrol bombed.

Nobody was injured and detectives are scanning CCTV.
