Planned train strike suspended

A TRAIN strike planned for today has been suspended, as negotiations between unions and rail bosses continue.

Customers of FirstTransPennine Express services were due to have journeys disrupted in the row with trade union ASLEF over pay.

Vernon Barker, FTPE’s managing director, said: “This is good news for our customers travelling to and from work or for events across our network ahead of the bank holiday weekend.”

FTPE and ASLEF have agreed to continue discussions with no pre-conditions attached. New negotiations over pay will now commence.
