A SERVICE was held at the Anglican Cathedral yesterday in memory of road crash victims.
Families laid a rose on 27 empty chairs for each life lost on Merseyside roads last year.
Organised by the charity RoadPeace North West, it was attended by dignitaries including the Lord Mayor of Liverpool.
Five doves were released to symbolise how five people die on roads each day.
The charity, which supports families of victims, is raising awareness of road deaths.
Wendy Clayton, 44, whose 12-year-old son Thomas Feeney was killed in a road accident in Netherton 10 years ago, said: “Some people would be lost if this help wasn’t there and there needs to be more awareness.”
