Bankrupt Liverpool property boss Sam Beilin among seven arrested in SOCA fraud probe

A BANKRUPT city property developer was among seven people arrested in raids across Liverpool in connection as part of a fraud and conspiracy investigation.

Officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), backed up by Merseyside Police, arrested Sam Beilin, 49, as part of the probe.

His home address in Allerton Road and his offices in the city centre were raided.

The seven were arrested on suspicion of fraud, perjury and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

While the identities of all seven have not been made public, it is understood that among them was a city solicitor and 55-year-old Alan Parkinson, a financial advisor with offices in Liverpool. An industrial unit, in Tapton Way, Wavertree, was also raided as part of the arrests, which were made by SOCA in conjunction with Merseyside Police and Revenue and Customs officers.

The seven have been released on police bail pending further inquiries, following the raids over two days on August 23 and 24.

Mr Beilin was director of a number of city property businesses before being declared bankrupt after a petition by accountant Melville Morris, who had offices in the Musker Building, in Stanley Street.
