Liverpool’s new non-alcoholic bar The Brink opens its doors

LIVERPOOL’S first adult “dry” bar will throw open its doors today.

The Brink, in Parr Street, has promised to offer non-alcoholic drinks and a fresh, seasonal menu in a vibrant and contemporary atmosphere.

It looks exactly like any other bar on the street – it just does not serve alcohol.

The Brink is a social enterprise which will reinvest its profits into city charity Sharp Liverpool, an organisation dedicated to working with people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.

Formerly a garage housing a rusting and dilapidated classic car, the people behind The Brink hope to breathe new life into the building and community.

The bar’s manager, Carl Alderdice, said: “We are overjoyed to begin welcoming people to The Brink. Our head chef, Tom Gill, who was head chef at the Everyman for 11 years, has devised a menu full of delightful recipes, most of which is made on site daily using only locally sourced produce.

“The Brink is unique to Liverpool and a place we want people to be excited about visiting, eating and socialising at.”

The venue is open for meals and lunches during the day, plus evening meals, entertainment and Sunday lunch.

In coming months, it will host a variety of live performances, ranging from music and theatre to spoken word.

Jacquie Johnston-Lynch, from the charity Action on Addiction said: “The Brink is the realisation of two years’ hard work from a dedicated team who shared a vision to create something which would offer a social venue for people on the recovery journey, as well as also offer a warm welcome for the community.”
