THE Merseyside MP appointed “poverty tsar” by David Cameron has accused the Government of ignoring his report on child life chances.
Last December, Birkenhead’s Frank Field gave the Prime Minister his blueprint for early intervention, to give deprived youngsters a better start before they go to school.
But yesterday the influential Institute for Fiscal studies (IFS) predicted the squeeze on middle income families will drive 600,000 more children below the poverty line.
Mr Field told the Daily Post: “It is over 10 months since I delivered my report, and since then the Government has sat on it and done nothing.”
Mr Field also said Labour and the Conservatives should apologise to the British people for the poor state of the nation’s finances.
