Liverpool and Everton FC club rivalry behind the scenes of You’ll Never Walk Alone

DIE-HARD Evertonians at the Royal Court theatre are having to hold their tongue during their latest production of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The musical charts the history of Liverpool FC from the founding fathers through to glory at Wembley, Rome and Istanbul.

But the inter-club rivalry behind the scenes even extends to the dressing room as two of the lead actors, Mark Moraghan and Tony Watson, support opposing teams.

Royal Court spokesman Iain Christie said: “This must be the toughest job in theatre for a die-hard Evertonian. There is a lot of mickey-taking, but it is all fairly good-humoured.”

Another Everton fan, theatre head chef Simon Collard, said: “I just avoid it. I’m in the kitchen, so that is the best place for me.”

The show continues until October 29.
