AXED Strictly Come Dancing star Edwina Currie last night insisted there was no cat-fight with Italian diva Nancy Dell’Olio.
The ex-Tory MP was voted off the hit show, despite her alleged rival, Nancy, ending up bottom of the leader board. But Liverpool-born Edwina told the Daily Post there were no hard feelings between them and said the on-set feud was all “complete fabrication”. Edwina, who celebrated her 65th birthday yesterday, said: “Nancy’s fine, I’m happy for her. We’re not rivals. We didn’t know each other before Strictly, so there was not a smidgen of rivalry.
“You know what they say, ‘Never let the truth get in the way of a good story’.
“The really nice thing was she was the only person to organise a night out in Notting Hill for the entire group. Her routines are hilarious. She’s trying hard. She’s having a ball and that is lovely.”
Edwina danced the foxtrot around a table and chairs, accompanied by professional dancer Vincent Simone, but failed to impress the judges. Now she is backing Russell Grant, whose mother is from Formby, to win the show.
