City law firm in knowledge share with Rwandan government lawyers

THE Liverpool headquarters of Hill Dickinson played host to two Rwandan lawyers as part of a knowledge-sharing initiative organised by the Africa Justice Foundation.

The law firm was approached by Foundation co-founder Cherie Booth, QC, to provide two weeks of work experience to Emile Ntwali and Aimable Mallaala, who are participating in the Foundation’s scholarship scheme.

Emile is State Attorney in charge of legislative drafting for the Rwandan Ministry of Justice, while Aimable is the Principal State Attorney at the Rwandan Ministry of Justice.

The scholarship scheme provides African government lawyers with the opportunity to study one-year Masters courses at leading universities.

Hill Dickinson Commercial Property Legal Director, Bill Chandler, who acted as host to Emile, said: “Spending time with Emile has been extremely rewarding. He is a very accomplished government lawyer and I have been able to learn a lot from him. In return, I very much hope that we’ve been able to give him a valuable insight into the workings of a leading commercial law firm.”

The firm’s managing partner, Peter Jackson, said: “We are very happy to support the Africa Justice Foundation and to welcome African lawyers to the firm. Our hosting of two professional advisers from Rwanda has been a rewarding and educational experience.”
