Volunteers from John Lewis create indoor sensory garden from old window displays for Merseyside blind school

A TEAM of volunteers from John Lewis in Liverpool One created an indoor sensory garden at a blind school.

By recycling the store’s window displays and using an array of tactile materials and props, the team conceived a year-round spring garden for the pupils and staff at the Royal School For The Blind, in Wavertree, to enjoy.

The garden features soft grassy rugs, huge balls of paper blossom, a waterfall and an array of differently textured flowers and plants as well as some examples of the wildlife you might find in the garden.

Cecilia Kinnear, of John Lewis, said: “We focus mainly on how our displays look to our customers but for the garden we had to think more about how the pupils would interact with it.”
