Landlord evicts staff from the Sandstone Medical Centre, Banks Road, West Kirby
MEDICAL records will finally be removed from a doctors’ surgery which was repossessed over a rent row.
Wayne Roberts evicted GPs and nurses from Sandstone Medical Centre, in Banks Road, West Kirby, last Friday, claiming he was owed thousands of pounds in unpaid rent.
Staff were forced to see patients arriving for appointments outside the building.
Yesterday Wirral Primary Care Trust (PCT) said Mr Roberts had agreed to hand over medical records locked inside the building after it threatened legal action.
But his solicitor last night claimed there had never been any dispute and Mr Roberts wanted the documents taken away as soon as possible.
Mr Roberts himself also said he had instructed his solicitors to insist the records – which he said were kept secure – were removed.
His solicitor, Peter Devine, said: “We did stress we wanted them to take the medical records away.
“Mr Roberts is not being difficult and has always been prepared to hand over the records.”
Mr Devine said they had also agreed the PCT could remove other items, such as vaccines and medical equipment, which was now expected to happen on Friday.
