Former straight-A Liverpool schoolboys jailed for heroin dealing

A FORMER straight-A schoolboy who guarded a stash of ultra-strength heroin with two double-barrelled shotguns was last night behind bars.

Myles Barton, 22, who police said had once studied at one of Liverpool’s elite schools, stored 2.6kg of high-purity drugs in a Mossley Hill safe house.

The Croxteth man was jailed for 12-and-a-half years at Liverpool Crown Court for firearms and drugs offences.

His brother, “academically gifted” former grammar schoolboy Sean Kenny, 18, was jailed for seven years for possession of heroin with intent to supply. Police found 12-bore and 13-bore double-barreled shotguns, 9mm bullets, shotgun cartridges and gun-cleaning equipment when they raided a flat in Elmswood Court after a tip-off from its landlord, Lisa Parry.

Describing when she went to inspect the premises, David Watson, prosecuting, said: “In the smaller of the two bedrooms she discovered under a wardrobe a black nylon bag approximately two feet in length. She unzipped the bag and saw that it contained two guns. She was extremely scared and left the premises immediately and called the police.”

In a cupboard housing an electricity meter, detectives found a holdall containing 19 packages of heroin worth up to £24,488. They also found 1.9kg of heroin with a purity of between 54% and 57%, with a potential street value of hundreds of thousands of pounds when diluted in strength.
